The Governor’s Office of Hakkari has announced that events and demonstrations such as protest marches, press statements and sit-in protests have been banned in the province for a period of 15 days.
The Governor’s Office of Hakkari has announced that demonstrations and events such as outdoor meetings, press statements, protest marches and sit-in protests have been banned in the Kurdish-majority southeastern province of Hakkari for a period of 15 days starting from today.
The ban will be in effect until February 17, 2022 at 11.59 pm and the events approved by the Governor’s Office and sub-governor’s offices will be exempted from the ban, according to the written statement released on the official website of the Hakkari Governor’s Office.
As the reason for the ban, the Governor’s Office has referred to “the maintenance of national security and public order, prevention of committal of crimes, protection of the rights and freedoms of others, protection of public health, prevention of the spread of coronavirus outbreak, prevention of possible provocations and social incidents that might occur.”
Accordingly, the following events and demonstrations will be banned in the public places such as squares, avenues, streets, roads and parks from 12.01 am today (February 3) to 11.59 pm on February 17:
“Rallies, outdoor meetings, protest marches, sit-in protests, protest actions, protests by forming a human chain, marches and gatherings, meetings in the form of public platforms, all kinds of audio and visual activities that can be done with audio-broadcasting tools, hunger strike, tent setting, press statements, opening all kinds of stands, collecting signatures, petition campaigns, flying sky lanterns and balloons, drones, paramotors, gliders and all similar aerial activities, commemoration meetings and commemoration ceremonies, except for public institutions and organizations, concerts, festivals, theater performances, sketches, cinevisions, pantomimes and similar activities, torch lighting, handing out flyers, leaflets, brochures, hanging posters, hanging posters, sticking stickers and all similar activities…”
